Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to individually receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and on profession of our faith, having been baptized by immersion in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and these fellow Christians, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Jesus, The Christ.

We pledge therefore, by the aid of The Holy Spirit, to love each other as Christ loves us; to strive for the growth of the church in knowledge, holiness, and ministry; to promote its life and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, disciplines, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

We also pledge to maintain family and personal devotions; to educate our children in the Christian faith; to share our faith with others as we have opportunity; to be honest in our business and personal lives and faithful in our commitments; to avoid all idle talk and excessive anger; to abstain from habits and practices which harm us personally in body, mind, or spirit; to be enthusiastic in efforts to advance the Kingdom of Our Savior.

We further pledge to watch over one another in Christian love; to pray for one another; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to strive for the mind and heart of Christ in our dealings with others and to live in a way that brings glory to God and protects the witness of the Church; to be slow to take offense but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the command of our Savior to reconcile without delay.

We moreover pledge that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the Spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.

Doctrinal statement

At First Baptist Church of Brazoria we believe:

  • That the Bible is God's word.  It is inerrant and authoritative in all areas of life, in the church and beyond.
  • God exists and is at work on this earth.
  • Jesus was born of a virgin.
  • Jesus is God
  • God is Trinity: One being in three persons
  • Humanity has sinned against God and now suffers the consequences of that sin.
  • Jesus' death on the cross and ressurrection pays the price for sin on behalf of all who trust in Him
  • As an act of obedience, Christians are baptized by immersion only after they have professed Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (immersion means that you are dunked under the water.)
  • The soul is immortal
  • The Church is God's design for community and is therefore where people engage in life together
  • Those who believe in Christ will be resurrected from the dead
  • We are all personally accountable to our Maker
  • We all have a responsibility to take care and value life
  • Christians must live like Christ
  • Once Jesus has saved you, you cannot loose that salvation.  It is secure because He is God and He secured it.
  • Jesus is coming back one day soon.

You are welcome to bring your infant into the worship center. We encourage you to take advantage of our supervised nursery for newborn to 4 years old.

First Baptist Church of Brazoria is a New Testament Southern Baptist church.  It is a Christ-centered ministry to Brazoria, the "west of the Brazos" region, and to southern Brazoria county. Our church's vision is "to change the world…one person at a time". We are known as a friendly, comfortable church that offers a full program of family oriented ministries including Bible study for all ages, an age-graded music program, women's ministries, men's ministries, an active youth ministry, senior adult ministries, special education ministry, new reader's ministry, deaf ministry and activities for children and preschoolers.

First Baptist Church was established by the leadership of the Lord in 1937 to reach out to Brazoria and the surrounding community with the good news of Jesus Christ. Through the years, faithful members have worked diligently to continue that task. The responsibility assumed by those Christian saints has been passed down to the members of today.
